2020 has been declared Year of the Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organisation, and this week also marked both International Nurses Day and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.

It seemed timely, therefore, to take this opportunity to celebrate Florence Nightingale's legacy by reflecting upon the records we hold.

Read our two-part blog exploring the documents which shine a light on her incredible life, from her birth through to her nursing endeavours in the Crimea War and beyond.

Great to see that you mentioned the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale's birth.  Around 20 Nightingales from the January 1967 set were due to meet in London last Tuesday (12th May) and to go to the service at Westminster Abbey.  Instead we had a Zoom meeting and toasted Florence from our homes.
