Many thanks Bob & Geoff for your time - worked like a charm.  Easy when you know how!

Hello Bob,

I am using Firefox so I would be grateful if you could help me solve the problem.

Thanks, Margaret

I prefer to login to my account from scratch but in the last few days my Gmail account already shows my username and when I click to sign in to type my password the blobs are there already.   I delete these and type them in again and untick the 'stay signed in' box but when I login the next time the same thing happens.  I would like to return to being able to type in my details -any suggestions please?

Thanks for the reassurance - we were in exactly the same position 'having' to give up the beloved XP because there were no more updates, but now we have got used to Windows 8 we hate the thought of any change!  Are the Computer Group meetings 'computer idiot' friendly?

Thank you for your comments.  It looks as though we will have to bite the bullet, back up everything, find System Restore and hope for the best!   Does anyone know what happened to Windows 9?

Could any of you computer pros help us please?  We have resisted reserving our free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 as we understand a free update is avaiable for a year after the release date.  Is there any benefit in being one of the first to download (they won't run out of upgrades will they?!) or would your advice be to hold off until some of the inevitable problems after a download are sorted out.  Having just got used to Windows 8.1 we dread having to learn another system.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I did have this problem earlier in the week but it is O.K. now

Many thanks Bob for replying to my query but in view of the last sentence of your comments I think I will forget all about the download as I don't want to risk any extra software on the computer, but your reply was much appreciated.

I am trying to download a free programme "Paint" from TechRadar, an easy to use photo editor, more powerful than Microsoft Paint but not as complex as Photoshop.

I see it in my download file but when I try to install it a message appears saying it is an unsupported 16-bit application and suggests I contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

I don't know how to go about this so any help would be much appreciated.
