2 programs that I have used for a while now to 'declutter' my hard drive - Ashampoo WinOptimizer and CCleaner.

Another marvellous program for photo sorting/viewing etc. is also from Faststone called Image Viewer.

"FastStone Image Viewer is a fast, stable, user-friendly image browser, converter and editor. It has a nice array of features that include image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, retouching and color adjustments. "

Have a look:

Accidentally deleted all the photos on a memory card or a file that you really needed?

Try:

Microsoft System Sweep and Safety Scanner

New programs released by Microsoft which may help dig you out of trouble.

Not a personal endorsement since I've never used them but they should augment proper security measures i.e. up-to-date virus scanner and anti-spyware.

Here's one I've used for a while.  The Pro Version can be used with external Calendars such as Outlook and Google Calendar.

Getting an old scanner to work
« Reply #16 on: July 07, 2011, 12:13:54 PM »
Have a look at Vuescan from http://www.hamrick.com/

In my view it is better than a lot of the software that comes with the scanner.

Free software
« Reply #17 on: October 01, 2011, 12:31:04 PM »
Not recommending any particular software this time but this is a resource to find a piece of free software which might be just-what-you-need.

http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Main_Page

Free software is a matter of liberty, not price. Think of "free" as in "free speech," not as in "free beer." Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software.

If you want or need to keep tabs on your download/upload limits have a look at Networx:

http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/

If you have more than one computer you can also link them to see the total usage.

It does a few other useful (to me) things as well.

P.S. Sadly it doesn't work for Linux
