Headline: Heavy showers and thunderstorms will affect parts of Southern Britain this weekend.

Yellow Warning of Thunderstorms for 1st July from Met.Office

Saturday 30 June Published at 10:44

YELLOW WARNING OF THUNDERSTORM for 'South West England', 'Wales'

Updated 30 June at 1030 BST

Valid from 0600 BST on Sun 01 July to 2200 BST on Sun 01 July

While many areas will see little rain, thunderstorms may develop bringing torrential rain, hail and lightning to a few places.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms may affect parts of South West England during Sunday morning, becoming more widespread and also spreading into South Wales by the afternoon. 30 to 40 mm of rain in an hour is possible, though the scattered nature of the showers means it is not certain where these higher totals and any impacts may occur. However where surface water flooding or lightning impacts do occur they are likely to be in only a few places rather than across the whole warning area. The greatest chance of impacts is in the afternoon, with the risk decreasing again on Sunday evening

Yellow Warning of Thunderstorms

Between 11:00 Fri 13th and 20:00 Fri 13th
Many places will be dry, however there is the potential for heavy and slow-moving thundery downpours in places.

What to expect
Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, perhaps leading to some damage to buildings.
There is a good chance driving conditions will at times be affected by spray and standing water, leading to some minor journey delays.
Some short term loss of power and other services due to lightning strikes is possible
What should I do?
